New Metrics and IE Business School Host Innovation Event
New Metrics, an Oman-based Management Consultancy, together with IE Business School, one of the leading business schools in the world, recently hosted an executive event on Innovation. The keynote speaker was Professor Peter Bryant, Professor of Entrepreneurship at IE Business School and a globally recognised thought-leader on the topic. The event, held at the Crowne Plaza Muscat, was attended by senior executives and representatives from various public and private sector organisations across the Sultanate.
New Metrics CEO Mohamed Debouk commented, “We received an overwhelming response from the private and public sector to attend the event and the feedback from attendees has been positive. We are delighted to be working with IE Business School to bring subject matter experts to the Sultanate and to shed light on what innovation really means for businesses in Oman. Innovation is a significant differentiator for any business and today’s discussion brought new insight on how to effectively build a company culture that enables and encourages everyone to create, innovate and thrive.”
In her opening remarks, Miriam Kugel, Client Engagement Director at New Metrics said, “The purpose of this event is to show that there is so much more to innovation than just great ideas. The key issue lies in how to drive innovation as a leader. The ability of a business to innovate starts at the top; strategy and culture need to align, a business needs to have a solid way forward, strive to become leaner and more agile while listening to customers and empowering employees to create, make mistakes and most importantly, allow them to take action.”
Professor Peter Bryant, a Cambridge Business School Graduate, has conducted extensive research on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. His work has been featured in leading academic journals and international publications including the Harvard Business Review and The Economist. Previously, Professor Bryant held executive positions in the airline, banking, software start-up, consulting and venture capital industries.
Commenting on the event, Professor Bryant noted, “Innovation is critical for growth. We understand that innovation is not the goal in itself, but instead is the way we create and capture new forms of value. To innovate successfully, we must first look deeply into the needs and wants of customers.”
